Michelle Obama’s Inauguration Dress Ensemble.
The choice of crystal gold and metallic silver lace, sheath style dress ensemble, complimented with a pair of military green color gloves and shoes by the first lady Michelle Obama for the inaugural swearing-in ceremony of her husband President Barack Obama was a safe and brilliant choice. The sleeveless jewel neckline knee length dress, with a matching below and knee length open coat befits the occasion. The colors convey royalty, youth, prosperity, strength, and optimism which are needed in these trouble times. Her complexion glow radiantly through the colors.
However, the sleeveless Eggshell ball gown did receive a mix review. For such an eagerly anticipated dress by over a billion people world wide, one does not expect a unanimous approval, not even among a handful of colleagues. Michelle Obama’s 5 ft.11 in. statuette frame enables her to wear, very elegantly, a somewhat frailly constructed gown. The color coordination with Barack’s white shirt, vest, and bow-tie was very complimentary, classy, and smart.
Michelle Obama’s choice to patronize less known minority designers is a gesture I hope other celebrity emulate.
It is obvious Michelle Obama’s style is a break from tradition; however, it is unfair to compare or insinuate her style to that of former first lady Jackie Kennedy. After the widely criticized ill advised election night of which Michelle Obama wore a black and red dress that left many people disappointed, I think Michelle Obama found her style. Like it or not, this is a style, and look that can be best described as a Michelle O’s.
